Filter Quality:

Filters keep air and fluids clean from contaminants which cause wear and eventual failure of equipment parts. When unscheduled downtime needs to be minimized or eliminated, consider using efficiency rated filter products which specify performance. Don’t take unnecessary risks with non-rated filters.

Filters equipped with by-pass and pressure indicators help you get the maximum life potential from your investment. How do you know when it is time to change the filter element if you don’t use indicators? Did your equipment come from the factory with by-pass and pressure indicators? Do you rely on equipment manual intervals for filter changes? How does the manual know when elements should be changed? Did it check the indicators and perform a lubricant analysis to tell you it was time?

The filter with the best price may not be the better filter. Examine filter ratings before buying lower priced filters. Determine what will be sacrificed for lower price. Are micron and efficiency ratings the same? What will happen to system contamination levels? Use contamination measurements and efficiency ratings instead of price to make the best decision.

Fluid Cleanliness:

Lubricant analysis helps our customers maintain and measure equipment, filter, and lubricant performance. One key for longer equipment and fluid life is fluid cleanliness. We recommend using the International Standards Organization Cleanliness Code 4406. Contaminants in the 2, 5, and 15 micron range are measured for a baseline comparison against standards for your equipment, filters, and lubricants. Contamination levels measured outside your standards range are flags for action.

The human eye can see 40 micron contaminant particles, magnification is required below this. Can you look at lubricants and determine if they are clean enough for your system? How do you know if your 10 micron filters are working properly if you don’t use lubricant analysis, by-pass and pressure indicators?


Cartridge Filters

Cartridge Filters are best used in applications such as: bulk chemicals, petrochemicals, water purification, hydraulic fluids, cosmetics/pharmaceuticals, reagent grade chemicals, paints, varnishes, semiconductors, sugars, electric utilities and are often used as final filtration or after other filters.

Cartridge filters can be surface or depth-type filter: depth-type filters capture particles and contaminant through the total thickness of the medium, while in surface filters (that are usually made of thin materials like papers, woven wire, cloths) particles are blocked on the surface of the filter.


Surface filters are best if you are filtering sediment of similar-sized particles. If all particles are five micron, a pleated 5-micron filter works best because it has more surface area than other filters. Compared with pleated surface filters, depth filters have a limited surface area, but they have the advantage of depth.

Generally, if the size of filter surface is increased, higher flows are possible, the filter last longer, and the dirt holding capacity increases. Cartridge filters are normally designed disposable: this means that they have to be replaced when the filter is clogged.


Bag Filters

Bag filters are best used in applications such as: bulk chemicals, food industry (vegetable oils, vinegar), semiconductors, coolants, cleaning fluids, paints, varnishes, waxes and plastisols. They are in general frequently used for dust removal in industrial applications.

Extended surface non-supported bag filters are designed for use in air filtration systems and equipment where medium to high efficiency filtration is required. The flow can be from the outside to the inside of the filter (that means, the separation of particles happens on the external surface of the filter) or the other way around, depending on the application. The particles are normally captured on the internal surface of the bag filter.

Bag filters are in general not designed for replacement when they are clogged, but some bag filters for gaseous applications like dust removal can be cleaned, for example by mechanical shaking or by backwashing with compressed air (so called reverse-flow bag filters). Bag filters are mostly surface-type filters.

A rule of thumb is that for concentrations higher than 5 mg/m3 a surface filter is favored, while for concentrations lower than 0.5 mg/m3 a depth-type filter is preferred. In general surface filters can by backwashed and cleaned more easily, while depth-type filters normally have to be disposed when clocked.


Fiber Bed Coalescing Filters

ODF Absolent Oil Mist Filters are well suited to applications such as: grinding (cutting fluid emulsion), turning (cutting fluid emulsion), milling (cutting fluid emulsion), electrical discharge machining and machining, using straight oil and moderate loads.

These highly efficient filters are fitted over the exhaust end of the unit using the fitting clips supplied. Cartridges are inexpensive and can be crushed or burned after use, thus reducing adverse environmental impact. The afterfilter used as a ‘polishing’ filter for the removal of residual fine particles has a life of between 6–12 months. Any application producing smoke or fine oil particles should be fitted with an afterfilter.

Absolent Oil Mist Filters are useful because oil mist is hazardous to your health and oil mist causes slippery floors and collects dust on machines and walls. Also, official regulations are becoming increasingly stringent; therefore it is important to invest in equipment and filters that will comply with future requirements.

Panel Filters

Use the Right Panel Filter for you Application

HEPA and 95% DOP panel filters dramatically improve the quality of air, but each are designed to meet different application requirements. Here are some guidelines to help you select which panel filter will best meet your needs.

HEPA Panel Filters are best for higher filtration efficiency: 99.97% on 0.3 micron particles (emits three-0.3 micron particles per 10,000 particles), the exhaust airstream is near breathing zone, for lighter loading applications, visible emissions are unacceptable, and customer specified HEPA level filtration.

95% Panel Filters are best for 95% on 0.3 micron particles (emits 500-0.3 micron particles per 10,000 particles), with heavy loading applications, the exhaust airstream is not near breathing zone and the customer specified 95% DOP level filtration.

In heavy smoke applications, a combination of 95% DOP and HEPA panel filters may be the best solution. 95% DOP filters last 3-5 times longer and have greater holding capacity in oil loading applications.


Pleated Filters

We offer a range of pleated filters designed to help you meet your fine filtration needs. From the original pleated technology to the high temperature used for applications that require protection against intense heat, pleated filters have increased filtration areas and helped to lower energy costs.

Quicker installation times and more efficiency than standard filter media, pleated filter elements fit most designs while replacing traditional filter bags and cages. Rigid construction, extended surface and long service life are features and benefits which make our filters an excellent option for meeting the requirements today’s filtration market.

Generally made of a high-loft, non-woven cotton/synthetic blend media with a moisture-resistant frame, the v-shaped pleats achieve higher surface area than standard disposable fiberglass filters, for maximum airflow and enhanced particulate capture. The media is thermally glued to metal backing to prevent the media from sagging during the filter’s use. The pleats are formed in a radial configuration to insure proper dust loading. The pleated cartridge is encapsulated in a heavy duty die cut beverage board frame to insure filter integrity in high moisture applications. The pleated filter cartridge is glued to the peripheral interior of the outer frame with a vinyl adhesive, preventing air by-pass. The face of the die cut is internally glued to the apexes of the pleats to insure maximum endurance under adverse conditions.
